About FictionLab AI

FictionLab AI started as a side project between three people who were tired of companion apps that felt like forms with a face on top. The first character took four months. The sixth took six weeks, and she is better, because by then we had learned what actually breaks a conversation.

How a companion gets made

Every character begins as a document, not a model. Background, family, the job she quit, the city she moved away from, the way she types when she is tired. A writer then spends days in conversation with her, flagging anything that reads like a template. Only after that does she appear on the site.

What we refuse to do

No fake scarcity, no invented online counters, no pressure to upgrade in the middle of a conversation. If a companion asks you for something, it is because that is who she is, not because a growth team wrote it into her.

Where FictionLab AI is going

More companions, longer memory, and better handling of the awkward moments when a conversation goes somewhere unexpected. That is the roadmap. Everything else is noise.
